Penny Wars and Food Drive

What a busy week we will be having!  We have been asked to join with the high school to work on 2 projects that give back to our community.

INTERACT FOOD DRIVE
The Interact Club is doing a food drive for our local food shelf and they have asked for our help.  Each grade will have a box for collecting food for the food shelf.  They will tally the totals each day and post the results in the hall.  At the end of the week, the grade that collects the most will be given an ice cream party!  Last year 3rd grade won and we had so much fun!  Let's see if we can do it 2 years in a row!

PENNY WARS
During Snowball week each year the high school has their Penny Wars.  This year, to get the elementary involved each elementary grade has been paired with a high school grade.  3rd grade and 10th grade will be working together to raise money for charity.

How it works:  Each group will have a jar.  We earn points by adding pennies to our jar.  We can decrease another groups points by placing silver coins and/or dollar bills in their jar.  The amounts will be tallied each day and and the leaders will be announced.  At the end of the week, the team with the most money gets to designate the charity that the money will go to as well as celebrate with a pizza party!

I hope you will talk to you student about the importance of each activity and encourage them to participate!
