Go For the Gold! Read!

The Winter Olympics are beginning this month, so we are getting in the spirit of the games and getting excited about reading all at the same time!  The entire month of February will revolve around the Olympics and reading.  Each classroom has chosen a country to represent in the Reading Olympics. Our class country is Japan!

Students can earn medals for our country each week by reading.  This reading is recorded on their weekly Home Reading Journal and returned each Thursday.  Students who read 100 minutes for the week earn a bronze medal, 120 minutes earns a silver medal, and students who read 140 minutes or more for the week will earn a gold medal and be entered in a drawing for a chance to have lunch with the teachers!

On February 28th, all 3rd graders who have earned at least a bronze medal each week will earn the privilege of going to Northern Aire Lanes for our Olympic Bowling party!

Along with the opportunity to read and earn medals, we will have a number of other fun activities including dress up days, book buddies, and a used book exchange.

We hope you get involved and encourage your child to read, read, read!

Friday 2/14- Tropical Day
Friday 2/21- Olympic Rings Color Day- our class color is GREEN
